Dyed Gonipora ?

Hello Guys,

Do you think this goni has been dyed ? I see some discoloration patches here and there, but can't tell if it's stress from shipping... or if some punks dyed the poor thing... what do you think ? It was sold as a "Lavender Goniopora "

It's very possible that it's dyed, and it's very possible that it's not. When Goni are retracted like that, their colour tends to be a lot more intense then when they are expanded.

My G. eclipsensis was lavender when I first got it but it was because it was partially bleached out. Now that it's healthy, it turned into more of a burgundy colour than anything.

Not dyed, that is actually a very common color. Often they have a very purple or blue eye.

If its a Tonga piece, its most likely naturally that color.

Yup, thats a variant I see all the time. I guess its possible that it was dyed that color, but I dont know why they would take the time and effort to dye a color you can get from any batch of Goni being collected.
