When to Feed Orange Montipora Capricornus?

I have an Orange Montipora Capricornus frag and I bought DT's to feed it but was wondering what time of day/night is the best time to feed it? I do have a Kent Sea Squirt feeding tube so I was going to just squirt a little right around it (with skimmer and powerheads off).

I have noticed my polyps are out more at night and I feed it about an hour after the lights go out. Everyone is different as to when to feed though.

SPS don't eat phyto. They will eat the critters that thrive due to adding of the phyto.

Stir up the sand every now and then and get some "reef snow" floating around your tank. And as mentioned, light!

I don't feed mine anything, or my tank much at all, and they grow like crazy. I don't know what to do with all my orange caps! Just give it a little time!

yeh. no need to feed sps.. just give your critters and fish plenty of food, so they poop a lot.. thats how you feed sps.

What do you mean dippin61, the Monti will eat fish poop? I have 5 fish in my 29g (Yellow Coris Wrasse, Ocellaris Clown, Purple Firefish, Blue/Green Chromis and Yellow Watchman Goby) so it should get plenty of poop if that's what it needs :-).

A little off topic: Can you put an orange and green monti, next to each other (so the grow together) or will they sting each other?

You can put them next to each other, but once they physically touch, they will sting each other. Have several montis doing this throughout my tank. And dont feed phyto, SPS will eat cyclopeez though. As long as you have good lights (which are a must), you dont NEED to feed most corals.

I used to mount two or three colors together. They grow well and do not sting each other if they are the same sp.

personally.. lots of fish that produce lots of waste, and good lighting.

the whats appropriate amount of fish for a BB, to me at least, is thrown out the window. Although i tend to have a lot of little fish, instead of a few big ones.. although, i do have a really small sailfin, but he poops like a monster, and he will be going in my 150 soon. well.. when he needs to.
