You lost me. What do Tunze and Oceans Motions have to do with an Earthquake?

The crazy part is that they stayed inside during an earth quake.. I think I would have been outside ASAP before the roof came down on me. I hope they and the tank survived..

You never go outside in an earthquake. You obviously never lived near the Hayward Fault (as I did on the East Bay across from San Francisco). Outside is a no-no, at least if you are in a residential area -- pipelines, electric lines -- you go to an inside structural wall away from windows.

I didn't know about the Hayward fault. I know the San Andreas runs down most of the west coast. That is the fault line that the LA earth quake, as well as the San Francisco earth quakes come from. I think it is the most active fault line in the world. I may be wrong about that though. I know all of this because I lived in Fresno, Cali for most of my life.

The Hayward Fault is extremely active. It runs directly under the UC Berkeley football stadium. Arlington Ave, which runs the length of the East Bay from at least Richmond to Berkeley, is for much of its run on 2 levels, Northbound being about 10' higher than Southbound. In that stretch the road IS the fault line.

I lived roughly 500' from the fault for a year, and less than a mile from it for another 18moths. I can tell you, with absolute certainty, that it is not only extremely active, but well overdue. Most geologists put the odds of the next major seismic event in California to be the greatest along that fault.

1989 was on a branch of Andreas, near Loma Prieta.

But not all California quakes are on Andreas, and not all LA quakes are either.

Am I the only one that heard the stupid broad giggling in the first third of the video?

Other than that, I am glad that I have never had to experience that in person.

Of corse we live close to the fault line that has caused some of the most powerful earthquakes on record. It was almost 200 years ago but I think we might be due.
