Flame angel with Pygmy angel
Has anyone had luck with a Flame and Pygmy angel in the same tank. I have a 75 gl FOWLR with at least 160 lbs of live rock? Plenty of hiding spots.

I have a Flame and Coral Beauty in my 100gal with no problems, when I first added the flame the CB did a little chaseing but that only lasted less then a hour, but I have heard of others that have had bad luck adding 2 Dwarfs, hit and miss

I would agree that it is definately risky to mix angels together. Being that pygmy angels are so small I would definately add the pygmy first, let it get full sized and established and then find a small flame angel. Add it to the tank and keep the lights out for a day or so.

The pygmy angel is very aggresive, it will chase the flame around the tank, at least thats what I've seen a few times, one of which was in my 90 gal. and the flame was there first. A few of my friends had similar experiences.

A C. argi (Pygmy angel, Cherub, cherub angel) is an active, aggressive fish. So are C. loriculus (Flame angels). You will have fights UNLESS you have nearly wall-to-wall LR. I wouldn't try it in anything less than a 120.

I have a trio of pygmy angels in a 75 with a pair of potters, a flame and a male fishers. The pygmys are the most aggressive of the group, but they tend to chase eachother more then bother any other ones, it is a FOWLR. In my reef I have a trio of pygmys with a very small potters and another male fishers. I tried to put the potters and fishers in the other tank first and the male potters of the pair wouldn't leave either alone. I have never tried a single pygmy with the other angels maybe that is why I am successful, but they are the meanest and if they couldn't fight themselves I don't know what they would do.

Pygmy Angels may be small, but they are VERY aggressive. Their aggressiveness can best be described as "death by a thousand cuts".

I have a pygmy and a flame in a 125 with no aggression, the pygmy was there first but never picks on the flame, but it sounds like this may be the exception vs. the norm... The flame I added was twice as large as the pygmy though.
