I'm soo MAD!

I've had this very unique gorgeous anemone for only 3 months now... Very vivid Purple base with bright green tenticles and pink tips... I also just bought a koralia nano that did cost me $27, but now it racked up a bill of $100... I woke up this morning to a clicking noise and I looked at the tank and it was all cloudy, I ran over and looked at the pumps and filters and saw my beautiful anemone in the koralia getting chopped to pieces! AAAHHHH! I'm not soo mad about the money but that my gorgeous anemone is gone forever! Does anyone know where I can get another great healthy anemone hopefully just as exotic??? I feel like an idot for not being more careful with the anemone in there... He has never been able to get into trouble like that until the koralia!

It's not the pumps fault. Anemones move, you'll never be able to stop that. You'll have to worry about this as long as you have an anemone.

Not your fault. Anems love current and they are known for that. Try bubble, hammer, or frogspawn. They can't move on you.

All anemone's are exotic. Yours sounds like it may have been dyed.

IME, unless it's a carpet anemone, most of them are going to have a brown tint to the tentacles (possibly a small tint of another color), and lightly colored tips. Many brightly colored anemones are not naturally colored and have a lesser chance of long term survival.

These are all different species of large polyp stony corals

I absolutely LOVE the look of hammer corals.

FWIW, in retrospect. You can make guards for your power heads, if you don't mind the look of a box around it. You can make it either out of a green plastic strawberry box (good old days-dunno if you can find them anymore, big holes in it) or use eggcrate to make a box around it. Both things look hideous, but an anemone isn't going to find the PH that way.

Another way, but a way that may reduce the flow, is to put a sponge around the intake.

I cant remember what its called, or where I saw it, but I know you can get sheets of loose mesh. It sorta looks like the same stuff that they put on algae clips (black, small octagon shaped holes about 1/4" wide) at some hardware stores. Sounds like it would be easier and look better than eggcrate.

They can be quiet tough. Had one go through the overflow, through a screen in the standpipe, and then pushed 5+ small anemones through slits in a spray bar (saw blade width).
