Yellow Tang 40g

I dont have much experience with tang but i was told if i put an island of rock in my 36" tank then it would be able to swim ok because it would be like a race track would this be ok?

if it was a small tang, you could get away with it but they grow fast and really should be in a bigger tank, id say at least a 90g

how long do you think it would be before it outgrows because i am setting up another tank withing the next 7-8 months im just getting the rest of the house sorted first as i just moved

How big is the other tank? And how big is the tang?

the tank ive been looking at is 2-3" and the other tank is 4ft long not sure what gallon it is

4 ft tank could be a 75, 90 or 110 most likly, if your setting up the other tank then you should be fine

i just dint want it to wait that long incase it sold theyve got loads of other but this is always at the front of the tank looking at me and eating well hes nice and healthy, out of all the yellow tangs ive seen this one just seems to be the best but dont really know y?

hes not actually that expensive only £20gbp I may ask them to keep him on hold and then setup my tank a bit early

I would just wait until you get the new setup running. Yellow tangs come in all the time so no need to rush it.

My LFS rarely has small sized ones they usually just have adults i wanted to get a small juvenile so i could watch its growth

Hate to say it, but a 36 inch tank is just going to be really tiny for a tang. Problem is not just that they get big and need lots of space to swim, they also can be pretty territorial. I think you would be hard pressed to get another fish in the tank with him for very long.

07Kar93, the feeling you have for the yellow tang is called anticipation. Its the greatest part of this hobby. You can imagine how perfectly he would look and dream about how interesting he would be. Reality is seldom so generous. Enjoy the anticipation as long as you can stand. Get your new tank running and then add one.

Trust me, the anticipation you will create while setting up your large tank is going to dwarf what you feel for a single measley Yellow Tang.
