Finally! Let there be light!!!

Spent all day mixing salt water, and rinsing sand. Thought it would never end. But I'm pretty happy with the result, and the rockwork may change a little when I can see it better. Anyway, now the patience really comes into play, waiting for the cycle to begin and end. Then it's coral time! Here's some pics to tide you (and me) over.

And finally, one for fun... This is what I sold my original tank to complete. She sails really well, fast for a small boat, and very comfortable on long trips. It's been in everything from 0 wind up to around 20 mph winds, and up to 3 foot seas. Handles everything I can throw at her! Took a little over a year to finish (are they really ever finished?)

thats awesome chris glad to see you finally "officially" back in the hobby. the paint job looks absolutely perfect. i am currently restoring what i have now, kind of stinks tho i put way more into it(too late now) then if i were to just buy a more expensive but finished newer boat.

but it does feel better that you put your blood and sweat into a project, you probably wont sell it for anything i bet.

Tank is looking good for a nice start, and I'm glad to see the sailboat in action. I remember seeing it outside your place, and remember hearing about the restoration from a few RC posts and other stuff. That's really awesome. I'm very happy for you. Keep us updated!

LOL, I didn't sell the boat, I sold the tank to finish the boat. It's a 1976. Now I'm back! Actually I almost bought a snapdragon, a twin keeled sailboat, more for comfort than for speed, so the wife might actually set foot on the boat. It's getting really hard when the better half doesn't share any of your passions.

Anyway, how's this for a paintjob?

Not bad for the side yard... sprayed with a cup gun from Harbor Freight, and a compressor from work. My nose hairs were blue for weeks!

Looking for someone to go sailing this Sunday, any takers? I can take 2 more people comfortably.
