No, the Chili eats whatever floats through the system and the refugium is teeming with pods. I used to spot feed it with phytoplankton but it never made the polyps come out so I stopped. Once the lights go on in the refugium (8:00 pm) the Chili coral opens up and looks like an underwater Christmas tree.

Yes, It would overflow. About 3 months ago my Dad and I built a new sump. We lowered the walls and added a bubble trap. Since the rebuild the water level is not a problem if the power goes out. I will try to get a picture of the new sump today.

I'm thinking about getting a Calcium reactor becasue the dosing is getting too much.

From what it looks like we have about the same amount of SPS, you may even have more. I'm just amazed how little you dose.

Thanks for your qucik responce and your input.

I thought about a Calcium Reactor but decided to try adding kalkwasser instead before I spend $200+ on a Ca reactor. How old is your set up? When my tank was only a few months old I would add a lot of 2-part like you are. Also what salt mix are you using and how often do you perform water changes? I found that the Ca/Alk. level will stay more balanced if you keep the Magnesium level high.

This question goes out to everyone viewing this forum. I'm looking to upgrade my lights for the holidays and need some input as to what type of lighting and fixture I should use. I currently have two 250 watt Phoenix 14K DE Metal Halides running on a dual PFO magnetic ballast. The reflector dimensions for the MH is 6"x2.5". I supplement with four 65 watt actinic Power Compacts. I like Pwhitey's T-5 tank and may even think about switching to T-5's but currently I'm thinking about buying two Lumenarc III mini stealth reflectors or two Coral Vue Lumen Bright reflectors. I will stick to the two 14K Phoenix DE bulbs and buy individual reflectors for the PS bulbs. I am up for any changes and suggestions. I'm worried that the Lumenarc and Lumen bright reflectors are too wide and will leave hot spots of light over my tank. Any input?

You can see how small the MH reflectors are. The whole light is 14" wide and the UV protection glass is 6" wide. 6" of light trying to cover a 24" wide tank!?!? I need to upgrade fast!

I swapped the Koralia 3 out for a Koralia 4 today. The total flow is 3,296 GPH or 27.467 times turnover.

Green Granulosa

Acropora Tenuis is on the left and the ORA Roscoe's is on the right. A piece broke off the original ORA frag and now it has started to encrust.
