those are beautiful midas blennies. they seem to come in many different colors, some dull and almost brown, some golden yellow.. the midas blennies in those pictures are better looking than most i've seen

Blennies are one of my favorite fish. I am trying to decide which one to put in my seahorse tank.

Bigshade I saw your blenny on live aquaria and have been thinking about getting one. Is it aggressive? I would like to find one less aggressive then my midas for the seahorse tank.

Here are mine.

I lost this guy recently. Surprisingly it was my peppermint hog and not the midas that killed him.

nickiwit: my tailspot isnt aggressive at all, it was among the first fish in tank, and hasnt fought with anyone i introduced, its much closer to a bicolor blenny in tempermant and size than the midas. it primarily eats the tank algae, but also picks at anything else that i put in. its confident, and will swim anywhere. as most blennies it has its special hangout it returns to often. i bought him a 15 room barnacle cluster "mansion"

i hope if you order it online, they send you a nice looking one, i always prefer hand picking from LFS.

as far as keeping it in a seahorse tank, it might work, when i put in food, it doesnt go crazy after it like midas usually do, it'll just grab a piece and run back to barnacle. so i dont think it will compete much with your seahorses for food but i have no idea how they'll interact. blennies are so curious

Thanks for the info BigShade. I would also like to hand pick one but I have never seen one in a lfs here.

I think I am going to order one once I get a new QT set up.

Midas Blennies are one of my favorites.Very active, beautiful, and friendly.Mine gets along well with my starry blenny.I think it would be too active for a seahorse tank.
I have had 2 algae blennies(in seperate tanks). Both were territorial and chased all the other inhabitants when they thought I wasn't watching. They were little angels when I was in clear view. Both of mine ate any kind of prepared food that I put in the tank.
Bi-Colors have been reported to nip clams.
I would really like to get a tailspot. All the pics I have seen are beautiful.

they are very docile fish. they eat well. they like to find a hole in a rock to call home. mine has two new holes. one near the glass for day, and one near the top for sleeping. awsome fish. big shade, ask your lfs to feed him and you will fall in love. sorry for the bullry pic. for you who can't see him he is in the hole in the center. he has a peach chin

fish fanv you can see his tail sticking out the other side. he is dark because he was sitting still when the pic was taken. should get one while eating.

he will get along with most any fish. should be fine in 5.5. he mostly just hangs in his hole, unless eating.

won't eat tank algae. i feed it mush. mine has better color than that but won't come out of the rock much because food will sink to him.

the tailspot is active... always cruising around the tank looking for algae to munch on or something to do. the fish has a full stomach at all times it seems. a real fatty. grew fast too

i dont know about hair algae i dont have any, it didnt bother with green slime algae.. seems to really like the brown algae on glass/rocks. the back of tank is peppered with his little mouth marks from biting the glass. its frightening how many there are actually. busy fish
