maxima threw his threads out...
my maxima clam lost his byssal threads somehow. i came home to him lying on his side on the rock he was on, with his threads slightly sticking to the rock right next to him. he was fully open, and there is nothing in my tank big enough to yank them out.
did he do it on his own? or is he most likely damaged? i stood him back up straight, and he is opening up again, and responding fine to shadow. thanks

They can shed them . They often do it when they want to move and it sounds like that is what yours did

nothign too too new. i finally replaced a blown out actinic bulb 2 days ago, so i didnt really have actinics for at least a month until 2 days ago, maybe that was it?
i do notice he turns alot, like, he will twist facing one way, to another every couple of days, or sometimes every day now and then, but always stayed firmly attached
