did you go to the ORG, there were a few brown tear drops in there last week, gorgeous clams.

it's best to acclimate to the light by placing them down low. but his 26G is probably only 21" deep before sand and he's running a 250W MH. he can move him up later.

hmmm...I was thinking of getting a bright blue/green maxima.

In response to ej1698: I have him on the sand for now to acclimate him to the new 250w DE 20k bulb...he will be getting a spot on the rocks soon...how much time do you guys thing before I move him up??

wait a week, but if it starts to move arround sooner IE on its side or from side to side. This is an indication that it wants to be moved to a better location. Slowly move it up to where you want it to be.

it will make any later moves easier if you place the clam on flat rock ( or similar ) so he can attach. it is easier if you half bury the rock in the sand to prevent him from falling over as he opens and closes, at least until he has attached.

I just found out that a LFS, Sea U Marine, has some maximas. But they are 1"-1/2....Is it a bad idea to get such small clams? If so yes, why? What are the risk?
