Ok I've just found this thread and read the whole thing. Great thread. I have a 100g and I have always loved chromis from the beginning. I put in...I forget I think 9 or 11 about 1 1/2 years ago. They were a mix of small, medium and very large. From the beginning they schooled off/on and the largest was always chasing someone around. I think that 1 or 2 of the deaths were from beatings. I now have 5 left. They just seem to disapear one by one over the months. Occationally I'll get 2-3 more, but little by little they dissapear. I can't say for sure most weren't from harasement but it doesn't seem so. Most seem heathy and then just don't show up at the dinner table one day. I think that they die off from old age or something. Thats what I'm left with. I havn't had any with injuries for over a year(??). They do jump out once in a while too. Still today they school here and there but mostly they hang together just not very tightly. I also have 2 percs, large and aggressive (towards the chromis and my hands).

I do have one question though. I have never seen mine spawn. Can someone tell me what this looks like with the chromis? This is a great thread and we should keep it going. I'll repost as things change and keep visiting the thread.
BTW-unbelievealbe reef pic above. I vote for them shoaling and maybe even scooling. Who can really tell. I guess we're all a bunch of arm-chair reefers...

Started with 4... 1 was always being picked on and not allowed to eat, then it eventually died. Repeated again. Took like 4-6mo i think.

Left with 2 for over 2 years now. They still fight.. well one beats up the other (missing scales), but they are a live, and HUGE. They are aprox. 3" each now, but are by far the best eaters in the tank.

I wish I could do a successful school of them, but Ive seen how in the end, everyone goes down!

My threadfin cardinals (apogon leptacanthus) are my new go-to schooling fish. Let's see how they do long term.

I have developed a theory about chromis BTW. I think they actually feed a lot like Anthias, and need a constant food supply to lower aggression. They will literally eat all day long any small food that you put in the tank.

Well, I know my chromis never appear full. I can keep feeding, and they can keep eating! Theyre black holes!
