Thumbs up Aqua C...I think I lLOVE YOU!!!

Let me tell ya, I waited awhile to post this because I did not want to jump the gun about my NEW Aqua C EV120 skimmer. This thing was worth every last cent! I have never produced such foul, dark, and downright NASTY DOM ever!! Previous to this skimmer, I had an aged venturi driven Big Mombasa skimmer, that did work fine, but I am so impressed with this skimmer that I feel it needed posting!

I have a EV-180 that I got 6 months ago and haven't had any luck with it. It consently needs adjusting. I will adjust it and nothing comes out but the next morning the 1 gallon jug I have next to it will be full of clear water. I have to keep the water gate open all the way or it over flows. Is my pump to strong, are you guys useing a valve to cut done the water flow? I'm using a mag 5 what is recommended for it. The instructions show the water leval needs to be belove the inside wall but mine stay a little above it.

I dont think the mag 5 is to strong. The gate valve should be all the way open and air intake valve all the way open also. The water level in the sump needs to be below the gate valve. I would check the injector to see if it is clogged. The water level is suppose to be no higher than 2 inches over the inside wall or it may interfere with the air injection. I use the Dolphin DP-800 on mine and have to use a gate valve on it to regulate the flow but since I set it I havent had to adjust it at all. I would contact Aqua C and get some answers. These skimmers cost to much to be dealing with problems like that.

I have a remora pro... I did not think the water could be any clearer before, I can not believe how much better the tank is now with the remora pro. Dave

I have my Aqua C EV-120 running on my 46 gal. In the owners manual it says it could take anywhere up to two weeks to start producing foam. Now my question is, does there need to be livestock (i.e., LR,LS,etc.) for it to start producing foam? It's been running for ALMOST 2 weeks and nothing yet! The internal water level is near the internal platform (about 1/4") and remains stable. Is this about where I want it?

you need organics to produce foam, so if you have nothing in your tank, theres nothing to take out, I belive but dont hold me to it.

Just to share as well... I couldn't be more pleased with my AquaC Urchin.

I'll soon be adding a Remora to the system.

Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was worried when my Aqua C EV-120 wasn't producing any foam for the first two weeks (of course the tank was empty and I didn't know any better), but as soon as I added LR and LS the foam started immediately! Now it's non stop.

I love my EV 180. YOu can see a pic of it in my gallery. What a great piece of equipment.

And Hey, I did not have to add a room addition to put in on of those 'bathtub' EuroReek's taht you have to bet to even get close to the performance of a small 5 x 8 inch footprint Aqua C.

But then again, some people like bathtubs in their sumps.

I've also had extremely good success with my EV180. It pulls out a lot of junk. Can't imagine how my tank would look without it. I clean it at least once a week and i get around two full cups of skimmate that is dark and smelly. On hte matter of smelly and nasty dont' ever dump that stuff in your sink or bathtub. The smell takes forever to clear up, god am i stupid, and when you turn the hot water on .... well it jsut gets even worst

I have a EV-400 with dual injectors... I don't think I am capable of being happier with a skimmer. Any happier and the government would have to legalize human skimmer weddings. I pull out about 2 to 3 cups of SOLID skimmate the consistanty of peanutbutter and about 5 cups of skimmate the viscosity of motor oil about every two weeks.

Gabe is soo right NEVER dump it down your sink or bath tub it take lots of bleach to get that smell to go away. I dispose of mine in the organics trash can......

"I dispose of mine in the organics trash can......"... "Maybe dump it in my compost pile?" You guys don't really feed it back to a DSB do you? hehe j/k My skimmate goes down the toilet.

Before I bought my EV I looked at about a half dozen higher end skimmers. I kept going back to the AquaC EV! Seemed about the simplest design, with low maintenance, that actually worked to me. Once I learned to keep the air intake open and clear, the spray nozzle clean, and use the right pump and it takes care of the rest.

Jason talking me out of purchasing a several hundred dollar sump by pointing me to DIY essentially paid for the skimmer. What more could one ask for?
