Hey thanks Randall!

I believe we all love this hobby for a reason, and we do DIY in the name of that love! I hope we don't DIY just for the sake of DIY...

I love aquariums, SW or FW doesn't matter, this built is intriguing, in a way I hope for it to crash and burn, but also strangely want to see it filled with fish, corals and redeem itself!

Chant: "Fill the tank, fill the tank!"

Peace,

UPDate

Installed Lights in canopy and attached Jaco fitting to Float.
T5 lights would start and then shut down?
I originally purchased 2 54 Watt 48" T5 with ballast from hellolights.com (retro kit). The 48" were to long. I called them and they informed me I could use the ballast with 39 watt T5 bulbs. Is my ballast bad or the application that I am trying to use them in.

jgarrison - I just happened across this thread for the first time. I see you've had a few ups and downs along the way. Not many people can say their first major reef effort was perfect. In fact, many people would call them failures (mine was anyways). At least you are hashing through a lot of your issues prior to adding livestock...unlike many of us.

Do you have a 'fill-date' set yet? Good luck!

Did you ask hellolights.com what might be wrong?

I'd double check the wiring or probably just rewire the lights to be sure. And if that didn't help anything I'd give hellolights a call. Is it tripping the ground fault or giving you any idea why they're shutting off? Is the ballast hot? Wires loose? etc etc

I think we're way beyond what is and what is not necessary in this thread/build.

Great job IMOP A couple of things I would have done differently would be plastic coated metal chains possibly less heaters installed and save a couple for back ups. I have to give you Kudos as I would have went off on some of the jerks for their shear stupidity and lack of knowledge I personally do not think that 20 outlets is to many for a reef tank at all. BTW in 15yrs I never had a problem with a hang on overflow (although I never ever would even considering using a CPR). BTW I like the F150 Lighting, GSXR (I used to have a sling shot many years ago), and the Trike..... well lets just say way too cool. Keep it up.

idk whats wrong with cpr overflows as long as you have the aqualifter pump which is ten bucks keeps a constant suction on the overflow i personally like them.

The "what if the aqualifter pump fails" factor.

Aqualifters continually Fail... and Must be replaced about every 6 months... besides? Why should an overflow HAVE to have an additional pump? They also fill and clog with algea and corralline and cannot be cleaned out? what a horrid design. CPR overflows ALWAYS have problems... I had more tank overflows from my "Best on the Market" CPR than any other problem EVER...I cannot figure out how they stay in business besides Marine Depot pushing them out to noobs

"Agualifters fail!"Tell that to the one that's been adding top off kalkwasser for 2rys on my system.
"Additional pump?" Because most will collect micro bubbles at the top of the u.I used an aqualifter on 2 different overflows on a timer that ran twice a day for 2 min.Nver had a problem.
"Cannot be cleaned"???????????
"I had more overflows...."Well maybe you should have used a pump.
