Bump...very interested too. I'm about to pull the trigger on an upgrade from my 4x55 PC steup (1/2 actinic) to a 4x54 T5 setup.

olkeller - I've consulted with Grim Reefer (apparently the guru of T5s). He supports my direction on the retro.

I too would love to see pictures. Before and after (PC) would be even better!

Getting them next week. Went with the 6X54 TEK using 3 blue and 3 atinic bulbs. Am using a par meter and taking pictures to show before and after. Will post results in two weeks.

JnS had a tank 75 setup for a while with T5's Was WAY brighter then I would have thought it would be, but IMO the actinic is pretty lame. There are a lot of bulb choices out there though and I have only seen his in person. I have read many o' threads looking into the possibility of changing to t5. Everything that I have read pretty much advised that there wasn't any really good actinic bulbs out there. Same issue I had when I had pcs. But it's been almost a year since I looked into it so there might be some better ones out there now.

We pretty much have all the same zoanthids and the colors pop SO much more under my URI/IC660 with half 10K aquasun and half Super Actinic.

The 10K T5's were so awsome looking though. Super bright and very white, unlike the pinkish look I get out of the 10K aquasun bulbs. Thinkning about trying the Actinic white next time instead of the 10K aquasuns though.

Hopefully some people will post some pics of thier T5 zoa tanks.

I have been thinking about doing 10K t5's and Super Actinic VHO on my next tank. I think that would give me the best of both worlds.

40g breeder with 6 bulb Teklight. 3 Blue Plus and 3 Aquablues. All the zoas are towards the bottom of the tank so they might be a little hard to see

Thanks pili4444. Looking good. I like the tint produced by going half aqua blue and half blueplus. I'm probably going to go inthat direction as well.

That's quite a bit of light for 40g. What are the dimensions of your tank and what size/watt bulbs are you using?

Closeups of the zoos would be great!

Cheers,
Jeff

Will take some more close ups tommorow, those are ones that i already had uploaded.

Dimensions are 36L x 18W x 16H

Size of the fixture is 36" and the bulbs are 39 watts each.

It is A LOT of light actually. I have to keep the pendent relatively high (6 iches approx.) so that the LPS and softies dont bleach. I was running a 250w halide before i switched to the T-5s and the T-5s are easily as powerful if not more powerful than the halide (granted i was running a 20K).

4X54W retro on my 75.

2 acintic+ and 2 ge daylight

Look for the pics dated Nov 15 2005 in my gallery.

I think the earlier ones were taken with only 2 bulbs. There is an old one in there called 2 t5 bulbs when the tank was first started.

For some reason the red zoos and shrooms seem to multiply twice as face in the shady areas under the rocks.

4x39wT5s on my 65gal 24'' tall. Lights are 4 1/2'' off of the water. Blue+>2x aquablue>Blue+. I,m still having trouble with some of my zoos bleaching. Even close to the bottom. I'm almost sorry I bought them. They are bright!!!

You can see the Anthellia likes the T5's

Here it is when I got it:

Here it is now. The chunk on the bottom is the second frag that size I have removed:

Same goes for the Yellow Leather.

Before:

After:

These shrooms and zoos look orange and light red in the direct light but both are a deep red in the shady areas that they have spread to. Bleaching?

Here is a good color shot:

What do you guys think of the 24" coralife strips?
I have one along with a single strip 55 Watt PC. I only just put my first zoos into the tank two nights ago so I don't know. I want to add another 24" coralife strip but mine was never as bright as the ones in the pictures.
Anyone else have one of these? Are they just low quality junk?

smp I dont know anything about that light for one the discription doesn't say any thing about being high output and I can not tell if it has individual reflectors.

Well, they're T5s .. and yes, they have individual reflectors. I thought that T5 meant high output. Anyway, they are only 18watts a bulb, that's probably why.
