Trigger fish with white fins
Hi,
I have a balistoides conpiscilum with the fins in white colour and some parts of them have disappeared. Does anybody know what type of illness could it be? The skin of the fish is perfect and he is eating and swimming allright. But the fins!!... They are really injured!! Thanks a lot in advance!! Angel. |

I noticed that this is your first post so I wondered if you are new to this. Ammonia in the water will damage fin and gill tissue. Have you checked all the water parameters? The fish may have a bacterial infection, but it could also be ammonia in the water.

Thanks for your answer Terry,
No amonia in the tank, 75 gal, a lot of life rock, 6 months running. good skimmer (aquamedic multi sl). Other parameters are ok. The fish came with a bit of this white color in the fish from the fisf store. I think it is bacterial but I do not know how to cure. Any sugestions?? Thanks. Ã?ngel. |

Treat with a good antibotic in a quarantine tank. I would try nitrofurazone (Furacyn) or nifurpirinol (Furanace) for 3 days. If you can't find either of them then go with Maracyn-Two at double strength each day for 7 days.
