how about some calibration fluid for reference?

Regular calibration should be fine, but there's also a borax test solution that can be useful.

I had good luck with the Salifert pH test kit before I bought a meter.

As far as the liquid titration test kits, I have founf the API (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals kit to be the easiest to read and the most accurate.

My API matches my Pinpoint to a tee.

It's too much trouble to remove the probe for testing each month like i plan to.
