salt cal. reactor ?
ok I have been using IO salt for the past year and have just been using the 2 part to raise the cal. and mag. before my waterchanges. with that said I have my cal. reactor set to maintain the cal. and alk. at 420ppl and 10dkh.
well in our club we had a group buy in getting ocanic salt with is higher in cal. alk. and mag. then what I keep them at. my question is when i make a batch of salt what is that gonna do to my cal. reactor? will it keep it at the higher levels, or do i have to adjust it to the new salt. hope that isn't to confusing.

Well, its a complicated question. The demand by corals and such may increase if you boost alkalinity, but probably not calcium. Demand may increase or decrease with elevated magnesium, depending on what is causing the demand. So if the new salt just has higher calcium and magnesium, then the current reactor settings will likely keep things about where the salt mix drives them, but there is a lot of slop in that assessment, and it might end up closer to the old values.
In any case, I wouldn't change anything unless it appears to be needed.

thats a huge relief. thanks alot. it is hard enough dialing in a cal. reactor with only a ph monitor and not a controller. lol
thanks again.
