Adding a Calcium reactor and limewater drip
I have a 125g mixed reef tank with a 50g sump/refug. and a ASM G2 skimmer. My current numbers are:
salinity = 1.025 dKH = 11.2 calcium = 460 pH = 7.9 - 8.0 I am currently dosing 2-part. I have purchased a calcium reactor set up and also want to do a limewater slow drip. My question is which do I do first... set up the calcium reactor and get that stable for several days and then start the limewater slow drip. Do I continue adding some 2-part as needed? Which comes first to do the switch over? Thanks winland |

personally i would get your kalk drip set up and stop using the 2 part for a day or two. measure your levels at the beginning, before you start driping kalk, then after one day measure it again and see how much the levels have dropped. then set up the calcium reacotor by how much your alk has dropped when just using the kalk drip. depending on how much water evaporates in your system, it will determine how much kalk will be going in and will then effect how strong your efflent from your calcium reactor will have to be.

I'd probably start with the kalk drip, but either way is fine, and you'll need to tuning along the way, so I don't think it's very critical.
