I have no reason to think it has changed, and many folks use it. I do, but have a bag that I have been using for years.

randy, I found this stuff at a local wholesaler will you check out these specs and if you would consider it a complete impurity profile?

Industrial grade magnesium chloride flakes produced from
the Great Salt Lake in Utah by industry standard solar
evaporation technology. The product is then treated to
remove sulfates, filtered to remove impurities, flaked, quality control tested and packaged.

Typical Analysis. Typical/ Range
Magnesium Chloride MgCl2 (%) 47.0/ 46.2 – 49.8
Potassium K (%) 0.2/ 0.1 – 0.6
Sodium Na (%) 0.4/ 0.2 – 0.7
Sulfate SO4 (%) 0.2/ 0.1 – 0.4
Calcium Ca (%) 0.2/ 0.1 – 0.5

Also I found this calcium chloride I would be obliged if you would see these specs and tell me what you think.
high grade / low grade
CaCl2 77% minimum / 77% Minimum
Magnesium 0.1% / 0.01%
Sodium 1% / 0.75%
Potassium 0.5% / 0.5%
Fluoride <10 mg/kg / 20 mg/kg
Sulfate <0.75% / -
Bromide <30* / 300-400 mg/kg
Arsenic <1 mg/kg / <1 mg/kg
Lead <5 mg/kg / <5 mg/kg
Iron <20 mg/kg / 25 mg/kg
Heavy Metals (as Lead) <20 mg/kg / <20 mg/kg

The mag chloride one is not adequate to know. Ammonia especially is a concern, but the profile that we saw to say the MAG flake is OK had lots and lots of chemicals analyzed.

Same for the Dowflake calcium chloride, except I ran those studies myself.

That said, nothing in any of them looks to be a particular problem.

so these are not complete analysis of impurities? i just spoke with the guy for the calcium chloride also he said he had some other analysis of impurites like metals but they were all less than 1ppm he also said salt manufacturers were using their product, would you trust it?
