sea swirl mod

may have already been done. i was tired of the output of my seaswirl blowing water over the front of my tank, so i cut the bottom threaded half of the elbow off as close as possible and in the bottom of the opening i cut a vee. now the water comes out in a spray from just below the surface to almost 90degrees downward. it almost seems to pulsate and it really improved my overall circulation. hope i explained that ok. i can post pictures in the near future.

I did it, I will get a pic. I tried several variations. The one that ended up being the best on my 3/4" seswirl was just a 1" 90 elbow with a V cut on the output. Took 30 seconds with the dremel, and improved flow distribution a ton in the lower part of the tank. So simple I cannot believe noone thought of this before! Thanks again for the idea Salty .

You could paint the PVC black to add a level of difficultly if you want .

Yep I was shocked at what a big differance this makes. It really makes the flow more dispersed throughout the tank, so mush in fact I am considering removing my OM from the closed cloop and letting the outlets run wide open and let the swirl create the waves . Let me know how this works out for everyone.

a local guy here has three sea swirls mounted vertically to where they are pointed straight down and moving left to right. Seams to be working really well.
