Question Molting????

Is it normal that every invert that we've put in the tank has molted within the last month??
Reef Lobster.. Molted...
Hitchhiking crabs.. Molted...
Peppermint ShrimpS...Molted.... (we have 2... we've found 3 clear body's)

Are we doing something to cause this?? or could they possibly all be growing that fast?

Yes and no. It could be coincidence, or it could be something wrong with the tank. Are you dosing anything? What are your water parameters

Water is all great.. except that Nitrates are a bit high..
Everything in our tank seem to be growing at an alarming rate... our coral frags are almost
the size of the full corals we almost bought... so who knows... is it bad for them to be molting? could the fact that we add iodine once a week be causing this? we also use C-balance A & B about every other day.. that's what our favorite LFS has recommended and their tanks are absolutely beautiful.

What are your water parameters specifically. "Good" is all in the eye of the beholder.

Yes, the additional Iodine could be doing this. Iodine at elevated levels can become lethal to invertebrate, and our synthetic salt mixes already tend to have more than enough of it. I would discontinue dosing and perform a few water changes.

adding that much Iodine that often is forcing them to mold early. Which is detrimental to them.

ImO cut out dosing with iodine----regular water changes combined with a good salt mix will be all you need.

.
I agree with Travis----we really need specific parameters for
salinity
pH
alkalinity
calcium
magnesium

Sweetp; Test first befor you put anything in your tank, and after. Iodine is making them molt to fast, and is killing them.
