New Year Plans

With the new year coming and christmas around the corner i have a few upgrade plans. First of all i am going to purchase a Tek fixture 48" 54 Watt either 4 or 6 blub with plans of keeping Zoas, LPS, and Maybe a clam once i do some heavy research. I would like to get a Anemone once the tank is good and established if i can do that with t5's?

Tank Specs:
Std. 55 gal glass tank
~10 gal sump
50-60 lbs. of live rock
30 lb of Agramax
20lb of agraalive
Remora Pro with MJ1200 (looking into getting a Mag3)
Aqua clear 50 for circulation

Live stock:
2 osc clowns (Added last week)
3 Royal Gammas Been in there since late september.

I plan on getting a Koralia pump or two, but am unsure of what size to get. i would like to get 2 since i want to make the aqua clear pump my water change pump. Main thing i am asking about is blub types, and any other info i may need or something i should read.

Thanks to everyone in advance.
Garrett

I would get the Tek 6 bulb, that way you can keep SPS, if you go that route and plus you have more choices on bulb configurations.

I'm sure you would be able to. As for bulbs ATI bulbs are really good. talk to Greg at ReefGeek, he can give you the best combos. Depending on what look you like.

I have the tek 6 bulb, it is an awesome fixture. I have LOTS of clams and many sps's. As for the bulb config, I don't know what I have now but they are about 6 months old now so I plan on changing them out.

so pretty much I am tagging along to see what bulbs people recommend

I think i will probably get the 6 bulb. Maybe when you change your bulbs out you can take a look skinz78. Do you happen to have any pictures of your tank? Thanks for your opinions

Make sure you're purchasing the new Tek Pro fixture which features active cooling. Without active cooling, T5s can lose up to 30% of their par.

you should be able to keep anything in a 55g with a 4bulb especially since those tek fixtures come with individual reflectors, nems, sps, clams, etc. will be fine.
I have a 90g with 6x54, my sps are doing great.

Koralias, 2 #3s would be good, or 2 #4s.

flyguy7150,

I have read on other forums that the 4 bulb with individual reflectors would work for everything. After reading i believe i will go with the two 3's for my flow. Once i start to get some stuff i'll post a pic or too. Thanks for all of the help.
