STN: How to solve?
OK, I think that my Stylophora (the base of the coral is receding) has slow tissue necrosis, and I have some questions about it. I was wondering: what are the major causes of this condition? Also, how can I solve this?
I will post back when I have water parameters. I will also do a 25% water change will this help, or hurt? |

Low alk or fluctuating alk.
Not enough flow. |

8dkh is not necessarily low. It's within range.
You should also check for any predators. |

Are you sure your PH is 7.4 that is low even for at night.

Yes, I am pretty sure that is the pH is right unless the test kit has gotten old (1 year old). I am also pretty sure there are non parasites because the stylo has symbiotic crabs that should portect it from parasites.
I buffered the tank before I went to bed, so hopefully it will get better. I will also bring up the pH latter today, thanks for the help. |

Ok it hasn't been long, but I was wondering how long it will take to solve this STN problem, because there are still receding parts on the coral.
Also, are there predators that could cause this? If there are what should I be looking for? Alk is better and pH is better as well. |

I would pick up some PH Buffer.
7.4 is way to low. |

Well as I said Alk & pH are much better, but it is still stn'ing. I have scince read that stylos are high flow corals, and it has barely any flow on it. So could this be the problem?
I will move it, and see if that helps. |
