2 part from 2 part soultion . com

I mixed a batch od 2-part from 2partsolution . com tonight and the alkalinity is not fully mixing. Theres powder still on the bottom of the container. I have used this for a while now and never had this happen. The only diffrence is that I always use part one. But my PH is @ 8.4 and I am mixing recipe 2 now to lower it a lil bit.

Is this normal for recipe 2 to have not dissolve fully ?

sometimes..
i use a hand mixer for mine, it works very well.
sodium carbonate has been cooked @ 350F for one hour to release the carbon dioxide. it raises Alk.
sodium bicarbonate is uncooked baking soda and it doesnt disolve as easily as the cooked. it lowers Alk.

I get a little bit of undissolved powder when I mix recipe two. How much is there? Heating the water might help. That's what I do.

When you bake baking soda, it becomes more soluble.

Well, it's hard to say what happened. Perhaps the product contained a fair amount of sodium bicarbonate. If so, the mix is safe to use, although it might be a tad weak.

it's because you likely have sodium bi-carbonate (standard baking soda) which is less soluable.

You can bake sodium bi-carbonate to make sodium carbonate.

OR you can purchase sodium carbonate from 2partsolution.

Go back and read the DIY article on 2 part. The difference in the formula is more then just the amount of baking soda used.

So are you using sodium bi-carbonate or sodium carbonate??

That is the question you missed.

Okay, if you're mixing recipe 2, then that's all sodium bicarbonate. I don't know why it's not dissolving, but that recipe is harder to get into solution.

sorry to side bust on the thread, but i was actually going to post a question about this site. is the "total package" they carry the right stuff? it seems there is more there than in the recipe i read and it's not exactly the same stuff. or, what should i get from there? thanks

I would get some of the calcium chloride and magnesium chloride. The other ingredients are easy to obtain at a supermarket and a drugstore

I was under the impression that they both raised alk, but bicarbonate lowers pH?

They do both raise alkalinity. Sodium bicarbonate will lower pH a bit, though.
