New to dripping kalk

So I am new to dripping lime water. I am mixing 2 teaspoons of pickling lime to 2 gallons of RO/DI water and adding it to my auto topoff. My display is a 12 gallon nanocube and the 2 gallong of lime water lasts about 3 days. However, after the first day I have this hard film across the top of the lime water in the reservoir. Is the lime water reacting with the air or something? Is it bad if this film makes it into the tank? Thanks for any suggestions.

[welcome]

The film is calcium carbonate, and it's useful to avoid dosing that into the tank, although not absolutely critical. It might make a bit of a mess and clog the drip line, but it's not going to hurt much, otherwise.

The limewater is reacting with CO2 from the air.
