Octopus with egg???

Five weeks ago I brought home an octopus. It would not come out of the bag. With the help of my dad we cut part of the bag away hoping that it would come out. No luck. Yesterday we noticed that there seems to be a tiny egg attached to the bag. My mother saw the egg five weeks ago, but it was in one of the tentacles - we dismissed it as being an egg. She has eaten from the first day I brought her home, but is still reluctant to find a home outside the bag. Could she be staying put because of the egg?? I thought mommy octopuses did not eat while protecting their eggs??

I will try to get a picture of it, but right now she is in the way and won't move. She has moved around the tank a lot but continues to cling to the bag?????
