Rocky Mountain Reef Club Website Up and Running

Great news!!!!!

Although first thanks are due to Larryl for his tireless work in helping to get the website up and running.

The address is www.rmrc.info

We had to change it as someone else took the original domain name, but I like this better anyways since it is a shorter name and less chance of a typo.

Give some feedback as we continue to make changes on it. You will probably notice a few things as well in regards to some exciting changes for the club.

Thanks again Larry and for those that have helped review and make suggestions.

Kip

Madman- We don't charge an entrance fee for frag swaps. The premium membership is still being worked out so that we can give better incentives, as it stands right now there is little/no difference between a general member and a premium one (as far as the benefits they recieve).

Thanks again Larry!

Larry and Christina, site looks great, you guys did a fantastic job.

Larry, I am sending you a PM with a couple of things I noticed.

Kip (or anyone else on the board), I know that the site is still a work in progress and these things might already be in the planning but you did ask for feedback and you know me, if you ask I’m going to respond.

Questions;
1)Are you guys still considering creating a club forum on the site?
2)Any ideas when the link for registration will be functional?
3)Is there going to be some sort of discount or family rate for families that join?
4)Any plans to add other forums to the links page (i.e., reeffrontiers.com, Marine Depot’s forum, thereeftank.com, etc…)?

Suggestions;
5)I noticed there is only one store listed on the interactive map, seems like this would be a great place to list the local fish stores (address & phone #s) so that members (especially new members) know where to go to find stores in their area.
6)A page containing the RMRC bylaws.
7)A page that lists the board members (RMRC, NCAS, & metro).
8)A page that contains the minutes from the board meetings.
9)A page that lists members and contact info (if the member chooses to publish contact info)
10)A list of contacts of those willing and able to help others out by going to their houses, consulting by phone, and/or housing livestock in cases of emergencies.
11)A list of contacts of those willing to “tank sit when others go out of town.
12)Another good site for DIY projects is Melev’s (www.melevreef.com)
13)A list of members currently logged on the site.

This is not really website related but have you guys thought about creating/compiling an emergency stockpile of aquarium/reef related equipment (that is purchased by the club or donated by members) to be used by other members in cases of emergencies? This list could be posted on the site along with a contact number.

Hi Joe -

Thanks for your PM, fixed up a few things based on that. As far as the other stuff:

Quote:

1)Are you guys still considering creating a club forum on the site?
Yes, I'm currently looking at a couple free forum packages similar to what's in use at Reef Central. If anyone has recommendations please PM me. We hope to have forums for general discussion, buy/sell/trade, sponsors, off-topic, etc.

Quote:

2)Any ideas when the link for registration will be functional?
Someone needs to get me the PayPal info so we can set that up.

Quote:

3)Is there going to be some sort of discount or family rate for families that join?
I guess the board will need to decide that.

4)Any plans to add other forums to the links page (i.e., reeffrontiers.com, Marine Depot’s forum, thereeftank.com, etc…)?

12)Another good site for DIY projects is Melev’s (www.melevreef.com)
Anyone who is logged in can create new Event or WebLink entries. After logging in, look on the left side menu for "Submit Event" or "Submit WebLink". Once you submit them, I'll get an email notification and can go in and mark them as "published", at which point they start showing up on the site.

5)I noticed there is only one store listed on the interactive map, seems like this would be a great place to list the local fish stores (address & phone #s) so that members (especially new members) know where to go to find stores in their area.
Any volunteers?

7)A page that lists the board members (RMRC, NCAS, & metro).

8)A page that contains the minutes from the board meetings.
Good ideas, I'd be happy to put those up if someone gets the info to me.

13)A list of members currently logged on the site.
Working on something like this. I need to figure out how to enhance the registration form so that it has options for marking things as public/private. Also need to split the name field into separate first and last names, since the goal is to use the online registration to indicate "public" membership.

11)A list of contacts of those willing to “tank sit when others go out of town.
Good ideas, maybe this would also be a good thing to have as a separate "Tanksitting" forum, where people could post if they need some help.

It keeps saying:" your login has been blocked, please contact the administrator."
Well, who is the admin so I can contact him/her?

When you first register, the system will send an email to you with an activation link in it. If you click the activation link in that email it will activate your login and unblock you (this is to verify that people are signing up with real email addresses and are not spammers). PM me and let me know if that works, if not I will figure out how to unblock you using the admin screens.

I will also look to see if I can put the admin email address (website@rmrc.info) somewhere on that "blocked login" page.

Larry thanks for the reply,

When I had originally set up the PayPal account I gave the info to Kip and Brandon, so they should still have it. If they don't just let me know and I'll get it for you or them.

So, if I wanted to add a link, such as Melev's site, all I would need to do would be to create a new event and hopefully the board approves it? That's cool!!!
