Cleaner shrimp eggs, can they be raised?

I have come home to my tank after 3 weeks away. Everything is fine and one of my cleaner shrimps is loaded with eggs.

Do I have any hope of raising these?

I can easily QT the shrimp.

Any links/tips for me?

Thanks.

I have read some posts from some people I assumed were "Seriously Advanced and Knowledgeable Shrimping" folks try this. From what I remember they had difficulty getting them to metamorphosize past a certain stage to where they would come out of a planktonic stage and rest on the ground. I would say it can be done since they are getting pretty far along in the process but it appears to be difficult. I have not read this forum for some time so the "old think" may have been upgraded to something with higher success.

This info was found several years back in the Breeding forum.

Thanks landlord.

In looking around it seems that people have success keeping them for around 100-120 days at which point the "final molt", out of the larval stage is a major hurdle to overcome.

I'm also surprised at the length of the larval stage. I'm not sure if I want to nurse shrimp larvae for the next 4 months.

it is not going to be easy, but it can be done. I have 5 skunks in my tank and they are constantly carrying eggs, my suggestion is to let them spawn in the tank and allow the fish/coral to enjoy the snack. however, if you would like to try to raise them check out this site. (this will link you to the cleaner shrimp breeding forum). Cleaner Shrimp
