I like the fact that the fans are on top- It would allow me to put them in my canopy easily!
Haven't seen or heard much from either the solaris or aquaillumination camp... seems to be a pretty small group still.

I'm going to stick around to see responses!

Here is a review of an Aquaillumination fixture by Dana Riddle: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2007/10/review/view.

I believe that Sanjay Joshi will be reviewing such a fixture after Aquaillumination produces enough to satisfy demand.

According to the article:

"An XM 250-watt 20,000K metal halide’s light output (PAR) was compared to that of the AI LED luminaire (see ‘Methods’ for details). In a nutshell, the LED array out-performed the 250-watt metal halide."

Thats the problem with these review's, they always use junk bulb's like a xm250w........terrible par. I would hope my few grand fixture could outperform it! lol

If I remember the XM 10k's had some of the highest figures for PAR in Sanjay's study a while back??
I don't use 20k's in my setup, so I didn't look at their ratings...
But I don't have any 400Watt MH's right now, I have a DE 250, two 175's and a 660 VHO- If it's anything compairable, I'm happy!

Yea, if it were up to the 10k xm, it would be impressive, but not so much the 20k : (
