Question French Anglefish white stuff?

What do you think this is and how would I go about treating it? The fish is currently in a tank 55g bare bottom tank with nothing in it, but a purple tang(possibly the carrier).

Click here for a short video.

This either came from my Eel which I have had quarantined for 10 weeks now. I could have possibly used the same net or accidentally switched heaters with out washing them out enough or something. The other possibility is the purple tang, which I recently added, had it and was immune. The tank it came from also had a clown fish and some chromis which had been doing fine for a very long time, so I don't know. Investigating and researching now.

Bump. No one can ID this? I lowered the salinity a little bit and added a bit extra filtration, he seemed to be cured and it came back. I'm pretty sure it's ick, but I know you should really figure out what is wrong before you treat.

On another forum it has been decided that it is ick for sure. :-( It is in bad shape right now and it looks like I will have to treat the angel with copper and the rest of the fish with hypo. Months of work to go to correct this problem. Had I only qted things properly. :-(

Unfortunately the Angelfish did not make it. I would advise against copper because of my experience, but this was just a single case. If anyone wants to know more info of what went on that might help them in a similar situation please PM me and I will give you as much info as I can.

Thanks everyone for your support,
Jon

i've been battling the same 25 of my fish were sick with ich. i did not want to add chemicals so i lowered the salinity slowly to 1.009 and it has been about 2 weeks and the ich is almost all gone the fish are still eating lots and swimming normal. i've also been changing the water about every other day. i will keep this level down for about 6 more weeks and then start bringing the salinity up slowly. hope this helps

I should have gone the hypo route. Some fish, like angels, don't take too well to heavily metals such as copper. Good luck with your fish mudpy.
