LFS gave me some free frags. what are they?
I got some free frags tonight from the LFS. which is awesome, but he said the only reason hes giving them away is because their not doing so good and their prolly gonna die. so i said sure, ill take em.

The only one I would keep is the last one, which is a zooanthid. The other two don't look viable.

I would avoid cheap deals or give aways from most lfs's, as you found out they're not very good and at some point you'll most likely get rid of them to make room for better pieces.

The first one looks almost like an alga, but might be something else.
The second looks like some unhappy zoanthids. I'd probably keep them, but watch the first for signs of spreading.

number 2 is not dead. its some sort of zoanthid, just keep an eye on it. some zoanthids take longer to open than others.

1st photo looks like turf algae. If it is, it's hard to remove once in your system. It's better to avoid unwated algae from the start so I'd probably remove it.
2nd photo-the zoas look stressed so you may want to check the zoa keepers forums for more info. Make sure they don't have zoa pox. 3rd photo - looks like they could be some nice zoas. Looks like they may develop a center blue ring. |
