Any suggestions on a good brand of activeated carbon?

I am about to start running carbon in my water and there are a lot of carbon choices out there.

I use chemi-pure elite... its expensive but its awesome. I dont think it just carbon... it does other stuff too like take out phosphates and metals and stuff

I'm still putting together my set up, did research and heard black diamond was decent. Only going to run it once every few hours a week though.

Black Diamond is a very good carbon. It's what I use and I've tried many others. Some of them come up with disturbing phosphate results. Rinse it with ro/di before use.

yeah, I'll add my vote for Black Diamond. Seems to have pretty consistent quality. Its the brand I've used on all my fw and sw tanks over the years.

I've been using Black Diamond and SeaChem Matrix, but the ROX 0.8 has gotten very good reviews. The chemistry forum has more details.

my vote for black diamond. TLF and Seachem also make sell some good products, but black diamond is a little more economical

What is the carbon for? If something is wrong, water changes would be my first choice.

i run carbon and rowaphos 24/7. carbon clears up the tank and kills any stinky smells, with rowaphos over feeding is not an issue.
