Women's Winter Boots?

Hi all. As usual I come to the lounge to ask about things that baffle me. This time it really is confusing.

So a lady friend of mine who just moved to our relatively cold climate needs a proper pair of boots. Can anyone suggest a warm, and probably waterproof boot, or a place to look for these things? She wants something fairly normal looking, as in she doesn't want it to look like she is wearing ski boots around town if she is wearing casual clothes.

Any guidance would be fantastic.

Well I wear purple sorels, I imagine those would be ski boot looking tho. Take her to a shoe store and see what they have available.

Depends on how close of a friend she is -

The balance of the ensemble is not UA friendly.

Nope, I'm not stupid enough to even try to wear those. I'd sprain an ankle

Go to Nordstrom's and get something with Thinsulate. It provides the warmth without the bulk. But avoid something with any sort of heels if you have meaningful snow and ice. Good tread does come in womens' boots, which can look trim and neat with that special lining...and there is nothing sexy or graceful about landing on the ground like a dead armadillo, with all fours waving in the air.

I saw some on L.L. Bean that look like nice boots, but are waterproof with Thinsulate.

Uggs are okay for boots. Warm, and the current style is fitted jeans tucked into boots. You can also put your pant leg (assuming they have some flare) over the boots. They get my Canadian winter approval.

Silly girls!

One thing we know up here in God's Country is warm footwear. If you're looking for warm boots, try these Women's Sorel -100 Below boots. They'll keep your tootsies toasty warm.
