First SPS for this weekend.
Hello everyone,
A quick new-to-SPS question here. I have a 20G with 70W MH and 48W T5 HO. I am new to SPS and this weekend will be picking up a few frags. What, if anything, should I do now to ensure the success of the corals when they come in a few days time? Thanks for all responses.

make sure your alkalinity is within an acceptable range, and that you have enough flow
i would not put any sps into a tank till you have tested alkalinity

This may sound like a basic suggestion but last week I had my acros not looking so good. Tested all my params and all was fine... Then I checked the most basic... Specific gravity. Yup. I was at 1.027. Adjusted and everything is now back to normal.

I nomally keep mine at 25 or slightly below. When I switched the salt back to the norm.. Polyp extension also switched back to the norm. Every tank is different.

Hmm.. I'll be sure to test for PO4, NH3 and Alk. Everything so far seems to be fine.
I've had good success with 1.027 salinity.... That's where I am running now. I guess that could come down a bit, but really, who knows for sure. Thanks guys.
