But with a zeo filter you'll not lose many inches of the height. you can use the filter in the sump an you can adapt the flow and the material change interval. For my opinion bigest disadvantage of a DSB is you have no possibility to control the system. I mean a DSB runs very well but what happens after 10 years? I don't know. |

So, enough foggy pics!
I am happy to present you my new reef after only one month. That was my orientation. A natural reef in the Red Sea: And this is the realisation of my impressions: |

dam you're good! I like it much better than your other tank! It's more of a natural look than a display tank. can't wait for the corals to mature! I'll be monitoring your progress!

how did you get the pillars to stand without tipping over and are the corals "glued in place" secondly how often do you prune the corals? does pruning help keep the corals colorful? The reason i ask is usually new growth on stonies are colorful and the older part of the coral are usually not as vibrant? thirdly how much water movement do you now have in this reef and the size of your tank?

iwan, have you ever gotten any red bugs or parasites in your corals or tank? if so how did you fix the problem? if not what is the method of adding corals to the tank?

Great job Iwan, Another gorgeous tank. I really love the pillars, it reminds me of a cartoon reef city, especially the blurry shot.
Did you make all of the rock/pillars that are in the tank? |

Looks really great Iwan! It's cool that you based your aquascape off of a realistic reef scene. However, do you have any room for growth?

Great looking reef so far Iwan, even though your old tank was much more vibrant in coloration, this one looks like it will achieve the same results in the long run and look very realistic. Great job

The big corals were also colored in the old reef. I never had problems that big corals were colored only at the top. The size of this tank is 67x28x28, the water movement is 5560 g/h |

Stunning. Part of the effect is the clean deep blue background that frames the coral atol - beautiful. I dont suppose you have the color code for the blue?
Will you be adding non photosensitive soft corals to the underside of the ledges?

Hi Iwan,
Sorry if this was asked already. What were the reasons for the new set up? Besides running out of room for corals to grow. You mentioned the lights are from the previous tank. Filtration is new. What lessons have you learned to make this one better? Any regrets with this set up? Thanks for your time. |
