Bright Blue Fish???

I'm trying to think of a bright blue fish to put in my mixed reef BC29. I don't want any damsels and so far the only one I can think of that would be a good fit is a Blue Reef Chromis, are there others? Current tank mates are Starry Blenny and Ocellaris Clown but will be getting a Flame Hawk soon.

Blue Assessors are nice. Not really "bright", but a nice deep blue color. And they are pretty small.

I thought Cherub Angels are one of the Angel fish most prone to nip at corals?

Perhaps, do you have clams and/or LPS corals?

I don't have a clam yet but have entertained the idea of getting one. I do have a Hammer coral as well as a Frogspawn. Mostly zoo's ricordeas (and other various mushrooms) and candy canes.

A chromis under metal halide has INCREDIBLE blue coloration.

Maybe also consider a chalk bass.

Cherub Angels are one of the smallest, and they are a nice blue.

I think it's going to be a toss up between a Cherub (pygmy) Angel and a Flameback Angel...any pros/cons to one over the other?

Well, I've decided to go with the Flameback Angel. It's a beautiful fish and from the general concensus it's the least likely of all the Angel fish to nip at corals (I realize this doesn't necessarily mean it won't and that each fish is unique but it gives me the best risk %). Thanks for all that have replied and given ideas as well as personal experience!

Cherubs are one of the LESS likely to damage corals. Flames are much more a risk.
BTW, you cannot get a brighter blue than a yellowtail damsel ( not a Bluedevil!). Mine just GLOWS. And its the most peaceful fish in my tank.

Is there more than one type of Yellow Tail Damsel? I have seen them mentioned plently of times for blue fish and the ones I see at the LFS and not nice at all (aggression wise - beautiful colors though). How is their disposition verse a BG Chromis?

So, any tips on what kind of a diet I should feed my new Flameback once i get him to improve my chances of him being reef safe? I'm thinking nori and a mix of brine/mysis shrimp and maybe flakes...anything else? Also how often would you feed him? I usually feed my other fish every other day.

Flameback is a GOOD choice. Same care as C. argi. Don't worry about what to feed as much as HOW OFTEN to feed. Dwarf angels in a reeftank must be fed a minimum 2 ( better 3) times a day. A big plus is to have some hair algae in there. They love to graze on the stuff. Also, nori clips are good.

I don't have any hair algae anymore...snails took care of that so I guess a nori clip is my best bet. I'll step up fish feedings to once a day but with my light cycle it would be hard to feed him twice a day as when i leave for work in the morning the tank lights are off and the fishy's are still sleeping so he won't get fed until after I get home from work around 5pm.

not a straight blue but a beautiful fish nonetheless...how about a bellus angel? Genicanthus species and perfectly reef safe.
