Sunpaq/Current ballast replacement

Howdy - My ballast appears to be dead. I ordered a replacement ballast, figuring it would be the same, its not...

The part no on the old and new ballasts is: APF120-2/55PLL

Old ballast has 2 blue wires going to one lamp and 2 red wires going to the second lamp. (total of 4 wires)

The new ballast has 2 red/2 blue going to one lamp and 2 red/2 blue going to the other lamp.(total of 8 wires)

I plan on treating the double wires as if it was a single and connecting it up like the old ballast. Anyone know if this is correct? Hard to explain in words - I can try to post a picture if anyone thinks that would help.

I would try what you have described. Most electronic ballasts have a wiring diagram on them. Post a pic if possible

Thanks Meuserreef - I've linked the two pictures - one is the ballast diagrams - they are identical. The second shows the ballast wiring, side by side.

From the look of it your old ballast had one wire feeding each side( two pins) of the bulb ( hence the splices of blue to green and white, blue to red and black, ...etc)
The new ballast has an individual wire for each pin.

I have used the WH7 for years and have nothing but good things to say about them. You can often find them cheap on eBay.

IIRC, when I wired my PC bulbs (4 pin) to the WH7, I had to create a jumper wire to split the hot and common wires. It seems that your new ballast has done this for you (as stated by Just Dave).

I will also say that I have used 2 of the 150W electronic MH ballasts from Sunpark for almost 2 years and have had no problems with them.

I see the light...

Hi Guys - wired it individually. In essence, where they were ganged together, I wired individually treating the blue wires as one side of the old ballast and the red as the other blue wire on the old ballast. Once again, hard to convey in words but it worked fine.

Lights power on and no sparks or smoke

Thank you!
