Quick Plumbing Q?s
Im going to be setting up a 90g RR tank and wanted a general feeling on what to use for pipe. My 75 is reg PVC but Ive heard that spa flex is an acceptable substitute that has advantages. If price is not an issue would you all use the flexable hose or stick with the pvc?
any thoughts and pictures would be appreciated. Thanks

I suspect the spa flex is easier to work with and uses less room but wanted to see if there are any drawbacks im not seeing.

for PRESSURE applications, I prefer to use vinyl tubing. My experiences with flex PVC in pressure applications is that it's really hard to get a good seal with standard PVC fittings. For drain lines, etc.....flex PVC is good as vinyl tubing will kink. I would use normal ridgid PVC for after the pump and for pump input.

For me Regular pvc was a lot easier to use than the flex pvc. I did use a piece of flex pvc to connect my sump to my return pump.

If price was not an option. I would still use hard pvc for 90% of the plumbing it will have less head loss than the spa flex since I use the thin wall stuff. Then at the pump connections I would use 6 inchs or so of spa flex to eliminate vibrations. And to get max flow since price is not an option I would oversize all plumbing by atleast 2 full sizes. IE pump with 1 inch outlet would be connected to atleast 1.5 inch pip to reduce head loss.
