You first have to decide on what size bulkhead you are putting in. When you order it, most sites will tell you what size hole is needed.

It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Is it for overflow, return, closed loop? How much flow do you want through it?

A good place to start is to decide what you're doing in the tank (SPS, Softies, FOWLR, etc) and decide how much flow you want then go to the RC Home Page and use the Drain Size Calculator to see what sizes you need to accomplish it.
