Mini Carpets...post your pics.

i am not sure if there is already a thread or not of these little guys..and if there is oh well they are pretty...

i know they are out there so lets see your mini's...i guess your maxi's too...

post some pics...i will start with mine...looked like nothing more then a paly polyp when i got him..

and today...

i forgot to mention...my clown goby decided to try and use him as a host...not a pretty picture...

bad shot with flash:

and something a little closer:

mine isnt the most colourfull but i love the sticky little bugger...

every three days i feed him a mixture of frozen brine, mysis, cyclops, and rotifers...i have to try and find some bigger meatier food....

would frozen squid work or should i find some sort of fish? would feeder goldfish work? or should i get some bigger shrimps?

Those are nice, I've never seen them. Is there a place you can recommend on line?

Did you get him as a hitchhiker or is there a place you can buy them up here?

Rarely more than an inch or two but I think there might be a morph that is 3"? Hopefully Gary M. sees this thread and chimes in because he'll know more.

Species name is Stichodactyla tapetum...

The larger morph can actually get as big as 6" across. I'll try to see if I can get a couple good pics.

mine came as a hitchiker on the colony of zoos he is still in..

not sure what you mean by how do they stay?
it is an anemone...has a pink foot just like most larger ones...he wiggles it into the rock and holds on...

mine is currently 3" across but was less then 1/2 when i got him..i bought the colony of zoas specifically for him...i, and the dumb *** at the LFS both thought it was just a paly or a really pretty zoa..
lucky me...

i wish i new where i could buy more of them on line..

kinda burns my butt actually...there where two wild colonies of zoas in the store wheni bought this one...both had a "funky looking" zoa...likely they were both mini carpets..i think i got the pretter of the two but you never know what they will grow into..wish i had them both...LOL

delphinus is right- Stichodactyla tapetum is what to use in a search. Mini or maxi carpet anemone might also get you some additional info and pictures. Like Phil mentioned, the maxis can get larger (up to 6"). Perhaps larger.
