How will you keep them clean? They will be covered in algae in 2 weeks.

Blah..........they make tanks look really tacky ESP when they get covered in algae. Trust me they are the worst look a tank can have, don't know why people even buy them!!

I have a treasure chest with air bubbles next to my fake corals. I plan on getting a sunken pirate ship soon.

I just bought a bunch of colored rocks and marbles for my substrate. I also purchased one of the those seahorses that attach to an air tube and it is so life like--up and down, up and down.
Should I feed it?? All in all it is a great idea but??????

They are not very attractive ... but they work very well as hitches in our bare bottom seahorse Juvie tanks it brings out the colors of the horses and they like them. They don't get dirty becuase we bleach them weekly.

I have about 30 coral in my 90 gallon tank - two of the coral are artificial SPS - I think they add something to the tank and they seem to be doing better than some of my past efforts with live SPS. The `artificials' are in a high flow area, so there hasn't been any algae problem even after months in the tank.
Yes, there are many gaudy fake corals available, but there are a few pretty good looking artificial ones now, too. I have had a few challenges with sponges in my tank and am considering the purchase of an artificial one. No one viewing my tank, to date, has noticed that two of the coral are artificial, but I do get teased about the 240 pounds of live rock I have in the 90 gallon set up! I won't be trying artificial rock. Some of the public aquariums in the world are using many artificial coral in their displays ... partly for environmental reasons. I'm sure it's better than having real coral that die. I think there may a place for artificial coral in reefkeeping. |

I wish I could find some artificial carrots for my garden. It would take a lot less care and water.

my grandparents got me some of these for christmas because they've never seen my tank and they didn't really understand that it was about keeping things alive.... it was the thought that counted though.
