Breaking Glass?
How many have ever had a mantis break your tank, if at all? I'm getting a N Wennerae and don't want him breaking my glass tank.

You'll find it ha happned to virtually no one And theonly species common tat are capable are G. chiragra (incredibly strong for its size) and O.scyllarus (peacock) 4.5-5"+ Not a worry with most mantises.

but it rarely happens. if you want to take an extra precaution, dig out all the sand and put a piece of plexi-glass on the bottom. if the mantis does try to dig through to it the plexi glass should do the trick....
ive done the same thing but havent had any problems....yet....

N.wennera...
If it breaks a standard AGA tank, there was probably something wrong with the glass. And i keep my G.chiagra in an unprotected AGA 15 and sleep FINE at night.

Dr. Roy,
I don't consider hemisquilla a common mantis because they are bought as food and will rarely be encountered live outside california during certain seasons. I'll admit I totally forgot large G. ternatensis, but isn't it rare to encounter one large enough to break glass? (They can get pretty hard to find in the first place sometimes.....) Dan
