They will mate then kill eachother. You'll end up with one or less mantis in most normal sized tanks. Males and females have slightly different coloration but the most reliable way is to look near the 3rd pair of walking legs. If you see 2 sticks, its a male, if you see 2 spot (Or a lack of sticks. The spots can be...well hard to spot) its a female.
