Thumbs up LB aquarium

I really hated this aquarium because it was just really boring ! Last time I went was around april last year. So many exhibits had sick or dying animals. They must Have gotten a new manager or something ?I have been to scripps, sea world's aquarium, cabrillo, and monterey ( my favorite ).

For the first time in 8 years I will have to say I am impressed with the improvemnets made. I actually stayed there for 2 and a half hours usual I am in and out in 25-30 mins LOL. The SPS tank is SWEET

I will post pics later today

yeah I like it also

You know what they did not have there was the Moorish Idols in the outside ponds nor did I see any in the inside displays anymore, I wonder what happened.

I went there last Tuesday and the family and I spent all day there.

I remember it kinda sucking, too, but I was pretty happy with it this time around.

The SPS tank looked surprisingly good; I spent a good half an hour standing there looking at it. The wife and kids were driving me nuts with their "DADDDDDY, how long can you stand there looking at the SAME THING?!".

Then I reminded them about how I do that all the time at home, and they shut up and went to another exhibit.

Classic.

Renewed my year's membership, as well. If you go twice it's paid for itself....

Some of the displays were kinda sucky, though. I still prefer the MB aquarium... By far. Even the "feel" is different...

I was there yesterday and i was kinda dissappointed. Me and my gf went through the whole place in about an hour. I guess my dissappointment comes from the fact that i was at the monterey bay aquarium 2 weeks earlier and that place is totally awesome!

the only part i really enjoyed was the tropical pacific exhibit.

O I was there at 3:20 to closing time.

you know what I like when I go to any place dealing with animals is seeing young kids interested and hearing the adults saying the funniest things about the animals. one dude with his girl and another guy friend where looking at the urchins and he was like " dude its blinking its eyes" then his friend said " no, its breathing" I wanted to say this so badly " That its @$$ hole " LMAO but I remembered kids where around.

I took my wife and son there last month and I have to admit that the displays are beyond AWESOME. Can't really compare it to Monterey Bay Aquarium as they are (IMO) different biotopes. I am very impressed with AOTP due to the fact that they REALLY concentrated on the Pacific exhibit and nothing else. (ie. you will not find a Z. Xathurum in the AOTP)

Their SPS reef is somewhat baffling. First off, it has little to NO flow, the colors are somewhat washed out, and there are almost no fish. I asked the young lady staff (who was lecturing passers-by about SPS) what kind of lighting this tank has and she gave me that confused and priceless look and said: "I have no idea.. all I know is that they are very VERY VERY expensive".

To top it off, what REALLY impressed me was their outside lagoon setup. They have a shoal of Hippos and some Moorish Idols in this outdoor lagoon, it was sooo awesome. They also have some beautifully arranged Mangroves in there.

Overall I give it a 9.5/10.
