Update: Sounds like it was bigger then we thought. Houses are down, cars flipped, probable fatalities.

the sky positively opened up here about 5 minutes after i came in from doing evening chores. it poured and poured and poured and thundered and lightening and maggie dove under the bed and simon was GLUED to me. i need to go out and check on the horses. i'm sure they're ok but they'll be needing more hay. their hay will be floating.

only about 20 miles from here, there was "penny size" hail and tornado warnings. scary, this NEVER happens here in january!

This rarely happens here at all, let alone in the midst of winter.

We're dealing with tornado warnings and thunderstorm warnings too. Earlier this afternoon, I saw the sky literally turn yellow then the sun came out for a minute. It's still in the mid 60s here. This might turn into quite a wild weather night for us.

Half way through this storm. So far i've only got about a half-dozen small chips in my windscreen from driving home. The other 300 mile stretch of storms looks to be coming straight through my house, though. Glad i bought that generator last year.

remember what happened a few weeks ago when we had a middle of the night thunderstorm? we ended up with ice, no power for days, and nina going stark raving MAD!
