well, i put my new skimmer in my salt mixing tank with water that has aged 48 or so hours and my skimmer is fine. i put the skimmer in my sump and no micro bubbles. the skimmer is the same level in both tanks.

so i guess what my question is, a. is it possable for water to be that clean. b. or have i not done enough water changes and my water is lacking something, c. my frogspawn or plate coral or something else is excreting something to cause this and i need carbon.

If there's no bubbles in the water, then the air intake to the skimmer isn't working, or there's some similar problem. No water quality problem should prevent a skimmer from injecting air into the water.

what would be a similar problem. the venturi and air line seem to be working fine. as i hear gurgling sound coming from the air line. in both tanks.

i guess i need to clarify there is bubbles in the chamber large ones in the sump. and fine micro bubbles in the mixing tank. when i put the skimmer in the sump i might as well be putting it in fresh water.

Okay, I'm confused. Can you post a picture of your skimmer in action in the tank? If the skimmer has air bubbles in it, it's likely fine.
