How many Koralias for a 50G BB SPS tank?

I'm building a 4' 50G BB mostly SPS tank (whew, acronyms!) Anyone have any suggestions on how many Koralias I should be considering? The rockwork is pretty open (pillars and shelves). Two #3's, one on each end? Two #4's? There will be an additional ~400gph from the return pump.

Edit: If you have alternative flow suggestions that are fairly low cost feel free to suggest those as well (vortechs etc. are out of my price range).

i like the tunze nanostreams. the only reason i do not like the koralias is that they are twice the size of the nanostreams.

I'd argue that buying a couple of controllable Tunzes or Vortechs is actually cheaper than Koralias (since both of those products hold their value quite well over time, they can be easily sold later for a high percentage of their initial price. Koralias are esentially worthless once bought) buuuut since you already ruled them out, I won't :P

4x Koralia 4s will give nice flow and make your SPS happy.

Yeah, I've considered the tunze nanostreams, but they only have about half the output. I know there are mods, but those increase the size and focus the flow a lot, don't they? As for 4 Koralia #4s, that's 4800gph... I have images of my clowns plastered against the glass. Anyone else think that I should be aiming for 5000+ gph? Sounds like an awful lot.

Sounds like it, but it's not -- a local reefer has 4 Koralia 4s in his 60gal cube, and it's just fine.

Do a Tunze with a single controller. Or even their wave box. My 6101 on a single controller does a great job in my 70 gallon Tech.

$400 for a 6101 + controller just isn't within budget, I'm afraid. I was thinking more the $100-150 range.

koralias are probably you're best option then. granted, you mentioned you wanted about 100x turnover which i am not sure how imperative that is.

No, someone else suggested a setup over 100x. I was aiming more in the 40-50x range, so I think 2 koralia #4 may be the ticket. I can add more if I decide they're needed, but I doubt it.

Do the Nanostream 6045. The Koralias are made like crap.

I have 2 K4s in my 60g. Had to tweak their angling and placement to get good tank coverage without kicking up the sand.

I've had them for 3 months without any problems.

I think 2 k4's would be okay to start. I personally prefer the seios over the koralias. (I have both in tank right now) never had a nanostream so I cant comment on them

the tunze nanos are smaller and with the mods can push up to 1200 GPH, idk what you mean by increase size and focus. yes they spread the flow much wider, but they also make it softer... good for SPS

if you were to go with koralias i would go with at least 4 #4s

funny. I've seen loads of posts about the tunzes literally falling apart. They have a weak seam between the two halves:

I've got both in my tank. The Koralias are fine, but definitely not as high quality as the Tunzes. The Tunze mount is much better than the Koralia's -- it gives much more freedom of 'aiming'

Though I do not own any, a buddy of mine swears by the Maxi Jets with the Sure Flow mods on them:
