What's the perfect hight for my stand ?
I'm 6', so I was thinking 36" hight or 40", with a tank 24" hight, what do you think ? |

I'm also 6' and like mine at 30 inches high and thats with a 75 on it. I also just built a 35" cabinet with a 29 gal on it and the hight is good there too.

I'm 6' and my stand was 42" tall. great to stand and look at the tank and fine to view from across the room. my new stand is 31" tall and sits next to my couch for viewing from a sitting position.
depends on intended viewing position |

Im am 6 foot and my stand is 40" tall which I think is perfect. I dont like bending over to view tanks.
You can see a picture of my stand in my tank thread if you want to get an idea of the height

I'm 6'2" and my stand is 42". I hate it lol i should have made the stand shorter, like 30" to 34".I dont like sitting and looking at the tank cuz i cant see anything on the bottom and its a pain working on it especially stuff on the bottom. I dont think you would want to go over 36" unless your only going to look at it when your standing up and dont mind standing on a footstool to work in the tank lol.

It really depends on what room its in. Will you view it standing up or sitting down? Some things look much better when looking down at them like clams. My 100G is in my dining room area and is viewed mostly when sitting down so my stand is about 36" high so you are looking at the center of the tank while sitting. I'm only 5'7" so would have trouble cleaning it if it were any higher, I have to use a stepstool as it is!

Had mine built 36" because I don't like to bend down to look at tanks. A 24" deep tank and it is good from the sofa or standing.

Match the tank to the room. So that when someone
sits down and looks at your aquarium they feel at ease. You at 6 ft sitting will be a bit above mid level. Just the same 5 ft folks will see a tad under mid. That way all can enjoy your reef. dbr |

My tank is an in wall and it is pretty high up, 4 foot or so... it isn't too bad but some (SPS) corals don't look as good if you are looking up at them because the better coloration will be on the top.

My current tank is 32 1/2". I would maybe go to 36", since I'm 6', but with 32 1/2" hight and with no canopy, it's much esaier to do the maintenance, since I don't really need a stand. With 36", I would probably need one.

nothing less than 36" imo, also match the room like "dead beat reef" says.

Mine is much lower than most at about 26 inches but, it goes well with the room(s). It is an island tank room divider. It's the perfect veiwing height when sitting at the kitchen table or in the living room on the couch. Also, it's easy for me to reach into the tank for maintenance without stools and stretches.

I'm 6'1" and my stand is 41". I like it, but I'm going to go shorter for the next one I think. I'd prefer to have a good view from a seating position next time.

I like my stand high, mine is about 3 ft off the ground. Makes cleaning easier for me.
