flames are terros, they feed off the slime from the coral, your corals are most likely sliming since they are new to the tank.

blueleg, my coral beauty attacked my open brain, but it was impossible for me to catch her until I had to move the tank. I also ordered a red lobophyllia (among other things) from Petsolutions that is due tomorrow! Good luck, and I'd love to see pics of it...I'll post pics of my order when everything arrives and is acclimated.

What else did you order?

When the flame angel picks at the slime, does it damage the coral?

Hahaha OMG that is so funny ! I feel like a real genius now (especially since I saw one @ my LFS just the other day). I don't have my contacts or glasses on...cool fish anyways.

Blueleg, I bet your corals are being nipped on by him. They are magnets for angels. Those fish can also develop an appetite for a coral randomly w/o warning--mine did.

The rest of the order is a surprise (aka you will find out tomorrow). I will tell you that I ordered 3 fish, 3 corals, and 3 inverts...it's a BIG purchase.

Haha good guess...well, just one pink skunk. I want to have a variety of fish, and I was afraid they would send me two that would not pair up.

hahah the 2 types of frogfish i had were antennarius pictus-the painted frogfish, and anntenarius maculatus_the wartskin frogfish. they both stay under 4 inchs and since they dont swim (they walk on their hands) they can be kept in tanks as small as 5 gallons. Frogfish are best kept in a species only tank as they will eat ANY other fish or shrimp like invert in the tank. they have even been known to eat fish up to 2 times their own size. of course they die usually within a week of this happening as the prey decomposes in the frogs stomach faster than it is digested. there is a thread here called the frogfish files search it up its pretty cool.

now that i figured out how to do stuff with my camera ...

a picture of my 16 gallon

The orange looks like an Antennarius pictus. And the other seems to be an Antennarius maculatus.

Wee, there is a great article all about anglers in the Marine fish and reef magazine for 2003.
